Gerri French, MS, RDN, CDE


Gerri has been a clinical nutritionist, nutrition educator and cooking instructor for the past 40+ years.  She is the nutrition instructor for the culinary arts program at Santa Barbara City College as well as an instructor for the SBCC School of Extended Learning. Her classes have been standing-room only for decades. She is well-know in the Santa Barbara community for her knowledge and passion for helping others feel healthier. Her knowledge about nutrition, healthy living, and ways to make lifestyle changes have helped her clients enjoy better living.

Gerri graduated with a BS in nutrition for Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and a Masters of Science in Physical Education and Wellness. She is a clinical dietitian and diabetes educator at Sansum Clinic and has worked at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and for Santa Barbara County as a Public Health Nutritionist.  Gerri is the former Food and Nutrition editor of Diabetes Health Magazine. 

Gerri specializes in translating the latest scientific findings into practical information.  She creates individualized nutrition and exercise programs that meet personal health needs and lifestyle for her clients, but her passion is talking to people about purchasing and preparing local and organic foods — sensible Earth Friendly and Healthy Cuisine.

A very busy Gerri enjoys hiking, swimming, kayaking, yoga, sewing, playing the piano, gardening, cooking and spending time with her two professional daughters.

December 2020 - An amazing 3 year old mini goldendoodle named “SUMMER” came into my life!!!
